“Because of the noise, the school premises should be conducive for people so that the pupils will learn and understand. But if they are there, they will be making a lot of noise and it will be affecting the pupils. Am just a headmistress so I am not in position to ask why.” Offor Charity said.

“We noticed that this morning when we came to school, upon enquiries that they have been told by the government to extend the relief market up to the school fence and close to the school gate. Ordinarily as a school environment it should not be so, a learning environment should be conducive. We don’t need a noisy area for teaching to take place but since the government is aware of it and the community where the school is sited is confortable, I have no option.” Christiana added.

School fence already marked as trading space by traders

This development is coming few months after the Abia state government stopped the street trading at the city Centre popularly called Isi-Gate on December 31, 2019 and made provision for a relief market for perishable goods at the Amuzukwu relief market but with the latest development, the market seems to be too small to accommodate more traders.
